O "boulder", escalada de blocos, faz-se defenindo linhas de progressão na rocha, que requerem a utilização de uma panóplia muito complexa de movimentos e agarres à rocha. A intenção é chegar lá acima. O desafio passa por vencer faces extraplumadas, arestas, fendas, superfícies lisas mas muito aderentes, regletes, tudo o que permita alguma adesão à rocha.
É feita sem a segurança tradicional da escalada desportiva, isto é sem corda, pelo que os blocos não são normalmente de grande altura. A segurança é feita por colchões, "crashpads", estrategicamente colocados e pelos amigos que amparam uma eventual queda. Obriga pois a uma técnica apurada, muita genica e sobretudo muito companheirismo.
As linhas têm nomes magníficos: Placa Epidérmica; Eduardo Mãos de strapal; 100% Acero; Aresta indigesta ...
Existe também uma classificação do grau de dificuldade das linhas.

The morning was cool, very cool (bordering on chilly) and teh wind was howling but I had to leave the house to find some real caches. This was one was the first.
It was possibly the most dangerous cache I have ever found given the climatic conditions prevailing at the time: A fierce northern wind with gusts in excess of 100 km/h. These were just dying to rip me off the outcrop and have me break something. Those that know me will know that I carry some ballast but this was to no avail. You can't battle mother nature with toothpicks when she has atomic bombs.
Here I am now, tired and safely back and very glad that I did venture out to the Sintra batholith once more. TFTC.
