Uns dias pelo Piódão e não enjeitámos a possibilidade de vir visitar duas ou três caches nas redondezas.
Chegados às Balocas optámos por consultar o GE local...
- Bom dia, como é que se chega às cascatas ?
E num instante a simpática habitante deu-nos as indicações que necessitávamos.
E estavam correctas, foi à primeira.
Que dizer ? O caminho, o trilho, a vista para a serra e as cascatas deixaram-nos completamente extasiados.
Uma maravilha aqui tão perto que não conhecíamos.
Uma cache que entra direitinha para o top das caches imperdíveis.
O sucesso foi tão grande que ao fim da tarde voltámos de novo com mais um grupo de visitantes.
E a opinião foi unânime...um grande monumento da Natureza, uma cache fabulosa.

Still active after the last visitors. It's a beautiful cache very carefully placed and my compliments go to the creator for a beautiful spot we probably would never have found without the cache. I will put up a spoiler page soon describing our quest in more detail. But for now I will just add a picture here to give you an impression of the area.

We live in this region for 9 years now and we are surprised everytime again how many beautiful spots there are still to discover.

About the trail. The trail seems to have suffered there is a lot of loose slate and flint on the path that makes it a bit dangerous for young children. The local council has errected a guidance fence on the dangerous part, but several bars fell down as to the bad handwork of the workers.

If you visit the cache in summer, bring swimming gear, the locals created a small pool at the bottom of the fall that is a great place to cool of in summer. We have been informed that it is used to irrigate the land below. But I guess there should be water in it.

If you visit the cache from the direction N17 (Oliveira do Hospital) you have a beautiful trip already before starting the cache. Make sure to stop in the little village of Vide (Portuguese for Life). It is also very pretty.

Here you see our real Portuguese Cachorro in action.It is a dog traditional used in hunting for geocaches hence the name CACHorro and sometimes named GEOcão. We just call it Mini.

Magnifica cache que merece aqui rápida e preliminar nota para registar o “geocoin drop” e advertir hipotéticos interessados que – em função de se ter verificado que nalgum momento a água transbordou e passou pelo local onde estava escondida, deixando-a semi-soterrada e inundada no interior - já não está nas coordenadas/local dado pelo autor mas, seguindo o mesmo estratagema de esconderijo, a cerca de 15 metros em:

O saco zic lock preservou o logbook; a stashnote estava ensopada bem como as prendas. Depois da acção improvisada de recuperação contínua perfeitamente fazível e sem necessidade de intervenção imediata por parte do autor, salvaguardada a mudança do local – com a qual esperamos este concorde -, justificada na medida em que a lógica natural será que a água volte a correr no antigo esconderijo.
