Kold & Mus visiting Portugal

Hi everyone

Kold & Mus ( http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid ... 969e45c511 / http://annika.dk/) are visiting Portugal again after their 2009 new year's eve visit ( http://annika.dk/2009/12/27/jul-i-lissabon-2009/ ). Annika wrote me an email asking about some of my caches and some general information which I managed to deal with pretty well but now I'm being asked about the best way to get from Lisbon to Almada, to this cache: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_de ... 0acffa597a

Some of you might be more into this Almada public transportation network than I am, so I'm crowdsourcing this. Any wheelchair - friendly way to get to Almada from Parque das Nações? I'm assuming Metro + Fertagus + MTS would work, but I'm looking for more opinions...

Of course, this post is in english because I'm sharing this entry with Annika. Be polite, please :D

Re: Kold & Mus visiting Portugal

The route suggested will work, as all of those means are wheelchair accessible. I could also suggest taking the subway (Metro) to Cais do Sodré and taking the boat/ferry to Almada. The boat ride is scenic and you'll have a really nice glance over Lisbon with all the time in the world to take a gazillian pictures.

At the other margin, Almada, you could take a taxi or the bus, from TST, nº 2 - to Almada/Torcatas. There are some taxis that are also wheelchair accessible. I could get the number to book one to take you guys to that Church. It's very close to where my parents used to live. :)

Re: Kold & Mus visiting Portugal

Hi... and thanx a lot.

Think it sound great with the boat - so I will try to find out of that. The wheelchair can be dismantled and be in a larger trunk, so a normal taxi with some room in the back is big enough.
Last time we didn't came so much around - the WIG in Belem took long time cause we couldn't find a easy way to cross the railroad, and then the wheelchair get broken, so this time... (and therefore I'm a little 'scared' about the public transportation, but sometime it's easier and cheaper too).
Normally we walk, but the many UP and DOWN in Lisboa make it harder.

Any who know how we easiest came from ehhh... Parque das Nações to the event the 30th december at IKEA?
Well - maybe we take a cab, but if we can find out of the bus, metro etc we also will use that. (don't use too much time about it, just if any of you know it)..

Hope we can come - xmas are 530km from home and they promise a lot of snow.
Last year we got almost no rain (few drops every day and one evening with a lot) and the temperature are much nice.... we got -14c last night :( - even 10c in Lisboa will be nice :D

And now when I abuse you guys..
Can you name any great/good place to eat when we walk around, caching and enjoy Lisbon?? Not too fancy, and not fat (damn, Kold doesn't like sushi, and he doesn't like when there are fish in the window :( )

Re: Kold & Mus visiting Portugal

Hello.

We are the owners of the cache you want to visit, and we are very honored that your choise is one of our caches.
About the public transportation, we think that the boat is one good option because of all the things SUp3rFM said. And as you leave the boat, you have the MTS right in front of you. You can catch it and leave in the stop called Almada, and walk from there to the cache. It's about 10 minutes.

Other option, assuming that you take the boat, is that we can pick you up in the other margin.
My car is not very big, but i think we all fit in there :D you just have to say wich day do you want to go, and we will see if we're available.
You can contact us through e-mail: rs2r.gc@gmail.com

Greetings,
Ricardo e Rita,
RS2R =)

Thank you guys for the visit, and for the nice logs you wrote.

It was bad luck to break the wheel chair twice in Lisbon :?

Hope you had a nice stay in our beautiful country :)

Well when we look about how the weather at home are, then... ;)
-15 degrees and snow.... worst place in Denmark right now got 1.5m high snow and up to 8m highest places :( Our area have a lot less :D

Well... thursday we got 'some' rain, but as long as it doesn't rain and snow it's okay :D
Now I'm back home I will tjeck my logs and edit where I think I need it.

One thing I would love, are maybe it could be possible even for the non-english CO to use a translations-site online to make the hint 'english'..
Love that I could go online and use google translate - it was a help several times, and it's better than only a portugese one.
