BaseCamp software version 4.2.4 (05-NOV-2013)

Notes:

IBM-compatible PC running Windows XP Service Pack 3 or later is required.
.NET framework 3.5 SP1 is required. A current version of .NET will be installed if needed.
Windows Media Player 11 or greater is required (a free download from Microsoft).
1 GB of system memory is required, 2 GB of system memory is recommended when using BirdsEye Imagery or Garmin Custom Maps.
A video card that supports OpenGL version 1.3 or later is needed to enable the 3D view.
If you experience problems when interacting with the map views, please make sure that you have installed current video card drivers.
BaseCamp will recognize all MapSource products except BlueChart.
BaseCamp does not work with serial GPS devices.


Changes made from version 4.2.3 to 4.2.4:

Fixed error when deleting the last track point in a track
Fixed 'Arrive Continue' guidance issue on zumo 660
Fixed address search issue when running in languages other than English
Fixed user data from FIT files not being read from the Edge 800

Installation Instructions:


1 - Download the Garmin BaseCamp update file into a directory on your hard drive. (i.e., c:\downloads).
2 - Change to the directory in which you downloaded the files, (i.e., c:\downloads), and run the executable file (.exe).
3 - Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the update of your BaseCamp installation.

BirdsEye Satellite v2

Os utilizadores deste serviço já tinham demonstrado o seu descontentamento pela falta de actualização das imagens de satélite ou aéreas disponibilizadas.
Muitos deles, incluindo eu, já tínhamos informado a Garmin que não iríamos renovar a assinatura por este motivo.
Inclusive abriu-se este tópico no fórum da Groundspeak: Garmin BirdsEye Satellite Imagery Updates Has anyone ever noticed imagery updates?

Entretanto, e sem anúncio público por parte da Garmin, foram detectadas actualizações nas imagens.
Descobri isto através deste tópico no fórum da Groundspeak: BirdsEye V2 ?
Presentemente quando se faz o download das imagens através do BaseCamp, aparece associado ao tipo de serviço adquirido a designação "BirdsEye Satellite Imagery Subscription v2".
Já verifiquei e confirmo que em Portugal também há imagens novas e com melhor resolução (principalmente nas áreas em que eram péssimas e não serviam para nada).

Muito boas notícias! Todavia, no meu caso, para já não vou aproveitar enquanto o meu velhinho Oregon 550 não "entregar a alma ao criador". A minha subscrição já expirou há muito, mas com a política da Garmin de associar esse serviço a um único aparelho, não faz muito sentido fazer a renovação agora estando sujeito a ficar sem GPS de um momento para outro...
