[GPS] Oregon, Colorado e Dacota problemas com WASS/EGNOS
- Código:
Well I think that some people are throwing some "smoke" into this discussion. I did some experiences with latest firmware and two Garmin units (Oregon 550 and Oregon 300)and the conclusion is that WAAS/EGNOS doesn't work as it should (at least in Europe). And everybody seems to know about this problem but most of the users doesn't care, and doesn't even bother to call Garmin. The thing is, for the GPS to get a WAAS fix it must be leaved with a clear view of the sky for large minutes (sometimes almost an hour), if we are moving getting a WAAS fix is even harder, or impossible, most of the time. The GPS see the satellite 33 but takes a long time to fill the green bar and start displaying D's in the other bars, and the fix is hard to keep. So, in practice, WAAS is not working, unless you turn on your GPS and leave it outside for nearly one hour, before start using it, and this should be done every time because there's no memory of the last WAAS/EGNOS fix. So the conclusion is; despite the firmware version WAAS/EGNOS doesn't work as it should. And when we compare WAAS/EGNOS performance of the Oregon with other Garmin units, for example the 60Csx, it's very clear that Oregon have a problem with WAAS/EGNOS because with, for example the 60Csx, the WAAS/EGNOS fix is almost immediately every time we turn the unit on.
